Three phase motors are perhaps the most common type of motors used in indutry today. They are standardised to a great extent and this makes them easy to replace when it becomes necessary. In the great scheme of things, they are inexpensive both to purchase and to run. They come in a variety of sizes, speeds and voltages and ALL this information can usually be obtained from the motor nameplate.
